Community Recovery Picnic
The L.E. Phillips-Libertas Treatment Center of St. Joseph’s Hospital is sponsoring a free community recovery picnic on Saturday, Sept. 11. The picnic – featuring food, music, reflections and inspirations – will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the treatment center campus. Feel free to bring a dish to pass. The annual celebration is intended to honor people recovering from the diseases of alcoholism and drug abuse and to salute treatment programs. The event is open to recovering individuals and families as well as the general public. Reservations are not necessary. Comedian and folk humorist Mary Mack and her mandolin won California’s Funniest Female Contest in 2005 with her endearing stage presence, little girl voice (her own), and off-kilter storytelling. She has been featured on the Bob and Tom Radio Show, XM’s National Lampoon’s Comedy Network, and was one of the top 12 finalists on The Last Comic Standing.
