By Highway
Chippewa County is served
by a network of U. S. and State Highways. USH
53 and STH 27,40, 124 and 178 run north and south
through the County. USH 53 and STH 29 are 4-lane
expressways. STH 64 and 29 run east and west.
Many other county and town roads connect with
these highways to link the cities, villages, and
recreational areas in the County.
By Air
The County has two publicly-owned
airports. A basic utility-A airport is located
at Cornell.
The Chippewa Valley Regional
Airport is located on the southern edge of Chippewa
County, within the city limits of Eau Claire.
It provides scheduled passenger and freight service.
The Minneapolis Airport is just an 1 1/2 hour interstate drive on I-94 from Chippewa County.

Train
Chippewa County is served
by three railroads-the Union Pacific, Canadian
National (CN) and The Progressive Rail. The CN runs east and west serving
the communities of Boyd, Stanley, Cadott, and
Chippewa Falls. The Union Pacific runs north and
south, serving the communities of New Auburn,
Bloomer, and the Chippewa Falls-Eau Claire Urban
Area. The Progressive Rail runs north and south, serving the communities of New Auburn, Bloomer and parts of Chippewa Falls. Freight only...no passenger service.
