Area Students Compete for Junior Achievement Scholarships

EAU CLAIRE, WISCONSIN. More than 50 area high school students will compete in the JA Titan Business Challenge on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 for post-secondary scholarships. The event takes place at the Ojibwa Room in the UW-Eau Claire Davies Center, 77 Roosevelt Avenue in Eau Claire from 7:30 AM to Noon. In addition to winning scholarships, the first and second place teams advance to the JA Titan Statewide Competition later this spring.

The JA Titan Business Challenge allows student teams to run a business simulation. The competition teaches students about the decisions needed to operate a successful company and provides the opportunity to practice skills like critical thinking, strategic development, and teamwork. Success depends on decisions the students make about production levels, marketing, product pricing, research & development, and capital improvements.

Platinum sponsors of the event include Markquart Motors and WESTconsin Credit Union. Other sponsors include BMO, CF Products, a division of ChemCeed, Co-op Credit Union, Great Northern Corporation, Hy-Vee, Johnson Financial Group, Market & Johnson, Northwestern Bank, and Xcel Energy.

The mission of Junior Achievement of Wisconsin is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed by recruiting and training community volunteers to teach K-12 students about financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career readiness. JA learning experiences give students the skillset and mindset to build thriving communities. During the current school year, 11,334 northwest Wisconsin students are registered to receive life skills lessons from Junior Achievement volunteers. By the end of the school year, that number is projected to double. More information about donating to JA or becoming a volunteer can be found at Wisconsin.ja.org.
