Community Foundation of Chippewa County Receives Fund Transfer from Hospital Sisters of St. Francis Foundation

CHIPPEWA FALLS – September 2024

The Community Foundation of Chippewa County has accepted the transfer of $4.6 million in funds from the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis Foundation (HSSFF). This generous contribution comes from existing endowment funds created by donors with the Foundation of HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital. The HSHS Foundation supported the health and well-being of the greater Chippewa Valley for years as the charitable arm of the Hospital. With this transfer of funds, the Community Foundation of Chippewa County is responsible for ensuring these donors’ charitable intent will remain a legacy forever.

Community foundations ensure that a donor's original charitable intent is honored throughout generations, whatever that may bring. Those who established their fund at St. Jospeh’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls expect their charitable dollars to continue to serve the health and human services efforts in the Chippewa Valley.

Jill Herriges, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Chippewa County shared, “The promise of community foundations is accessible, even in times like these, when there are changes to the community nonprofits themselves. We warmly welcome the fundholders to our Foundation and look forward to building our relationship through charitable stewardship.”

The Community Foundation of Chippewa County was founded 23 years ago by community members who had the same charitable passion as those who contributed to the HSHS Foundations. Erik Larson, the

Community Foundation’s Board Chair said, “It is an honor. To be here to accept this transfer, alongside of the Eau Claire Community Foundation, Chippewa Valley Technical College and the Catholic Foundation of West Central Wisconsin. The Community Foundation of Chippewa County is ready to steward these funds, ensuring that these grant dollars continue to serve our area.”

The Community Foundation of Chippewa County is nationally accredited and is the trusted steward of over 290 charitable funds. Their endowed funds provide sustained charitable grants serving Chippewa County’s people and resources. They are recognized as a leader in addressing community needs and helping donors meet their charitable passions.
