Leadership Chippewa Falls - Education
This month's Leadership session focused on Education. Participants first heard from a panel of speakers from Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District, McDonell Area Catholic Schools and Veritas Classical Academy - Chippewa Valley, learning what they each provide to students, styles of teaching, and how they all work together for the kids in our community. Next, participants rotated through round table discussions including curriculum overviews, current education challenges in our community, and academic and career planning for high school students. Lastly, the group gathered to hear from Chippewa Valley Technical College President, Dr. Sunem Beaton-Garcia regarding post-secondary overview and current issues. Thank you to our session panelists, leaders, and additional professionals who provided our program an exclusive look into our community's education options and how that impacts our future workforce and business community outlook.

Schools2Skills - Emergency Services
As part of the Chamber's Schools2Skills program for career exploration, middle school students from CFAUSD visited the CVTC Services Education Center last week. They learned about paramedic, EMT, and law enforcement careers as well as the education and training required for each. Next, the students visited the Chippewa Falls Fire Station 1 where they learned about fire and rescue careers. That was followed by a tour of the Chippewa Falls Police Department. where students saw how evidence is processed, learned about various ways that officers work to keep us safe, and had a chance to meet Chip, the CFPD therapy dog. Thanks to these partners for allowing students a glimpse into these exciting careers!
