Chi-Hi claims victory at Chippewa County FFA Dairy Evaluation Clinic

Chippewa Falls FFA reclaimed the title it lost last year and was victorious at the 2024 Chippewa County FFA Dairy Evaluation Clinic. In one of the closest clinic competitions, just over four points separated the participating schools. The clinic was held at Dayleen Holsteins near Chippewa Falls. 153 students participated representing FFA Chapters from Bloomer, Cadott, Chippewa Falls, and Stanley-Boyd.

FFA Chapters in Chippewa County were invited to bring students with the top four scoring individuals from each chapter representing the team score. Each student judged four classes of dairy cattle and answered ten type analysis questions on the dairy cow classes. Students also participated in a dairy knowledge test and cheese flavor identification as part of the contest.

The Chippewa Falls team of Connor Allard, Avery Lindstrom, Jackson Bowe, and Addison Roth averaged a winning score of 203.5 out of 240 potential points which provided just enough distance from the second place Cadott team of Elizabeth Rajek, Payton Pederson, Brock Nesvacil, and Cody Jablonski with a score of 201. Stanley-Boyd placed a very close third with 200.75 points and Bloomer fourth with 199.25 points.

Only one point separated top scoring individual Logan Stuttgen of Stanley-Boyd (205 points) from second place individuals Connor Allard and Avery Lindstrom of Chi-Hi with 204 points. Other top scorers with 203 points included Gracelyn Yohnk (Bloomer), Elizabeth Rajek and Payton Pederson (Cadott), Jackson Bowe, Addison Roth (Chi-Hi), and rounding out the top scorers with 202 points were Wyatt Bowe, Elliot Estenson, and Sarah Severson, all from Chi-Hi.

Jon Schmidt of Woodmohr Jerseys was the official judge for this year’s contest. Chippewa County DHIA Foundation with Chippewa County 4-H Leaders, Inc. sponsored team and individual awards. Other sponsors included Yellowstone Cheese, Chippewa County Dairy Promoters, and Kwik Trip. A special thank you to the Chippewa Valley Technical College Animal Science Program for assisting with this year’s program.
